12 Round the Yacht Race. With their specialist sector knowledge and maritime experience, the
award-winning practice will deliver legal advice and support for the eighth edition of the race
which, at 40,000 miles, is the world’s global ocean race.
English entry confirmed for worlds longest ocean race [29/07/2011]
Yorkshire is set to take on the world with the announcement today that it is to
compete in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race as the only English entry in
the ten-strong field for the 40,000-mile global contest which is ‘raced by people like
you’. The world’s longest yacht race will start from Southampton, on the south coast
of England, on 31 July 2011.
First ever east coast Australian entry announced for worlds longest global ocean race [29/07/2011]
Australia’s Gold Coast has announced that it will field the first ever east coast entry in the
Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race. With a yacht named Gold Coast Australia, the
Queensland entry will line up against nine other internationally sponsored teams when the
race kicks off from Southampton on the UK’s south coast on 31 July 2011. The Gold Coast will
welcome the ten-strong fleet to its shores in December 2011 as one of 15 stopovers over the
course of the 12-month race.
Geraldton-Greenough to field a Western Australian entry in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race [29/07/2011]
Western Australia has returned to the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race with the third entry
from the state in the 15-year history of the event that is ‘Raced by People Like You’. The yacht
will represent the City of Greater Geraldton (formerly Geraldton-Greenough which will
amalgamate with neighbouring Shire of Mullewa on 1 July 2011) which has also been unveiled
as the Western Australian stopover following the city’s popular debut as a host port in Clipper
Den Helder to host the prestigious Clipper Round the World Yacht Race [06/07/2011]
Den Helder has secured a visit by the ten-strong fleet competing in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race which, at 40,000 miles, is the world’s longest race. Willemsoord, the city’s historic port, which is rich in maritime heritage, will be the inaugural stopover for the Netherlands and the penultimate stopover before the fleet returns to the UK after 12 months of gruelling ocean racing. The internationally sponsored stripped out yachts are expected to arrive in Den Helder mid-July 2012 where Dutch entry, De Lage Landen, will be the star of the show.

Derry-Londonderry officially welcomes yacht and crew

The Mayor, Cllr Colum Eastwood, officially welcomed the yacht, skipper and crew of
Derry-Londonderry to the city at a lunchtime ceremony today. Also there to wish the
team fair winds and to offer some winning words of advice was five-time Olympic gold
medallist, Sir Steve Redgrave, who met the crew on board before champagne was
sprayed over the yacht’s bow.
Skipper, Mark Light, and the crew of Derry-Londonderry are preparing for the start of the
Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race which, at 40,000 miles, is the world’s longest
ocean race. It will begin from the south coast of England on 31 July 2011 and Derry-
Londonderry will host a stopover in July 2012 when all ten of the 68-foot stripped down
racing yachts and their crews will visit the city for a week-long celebration. It will be the first
time a Northern Irish port has welcomed the Clipper Race fleet.....
