In May 2006, Dee Caffari completed her first record setting voyage – a solo, non-stop lap of the planet against the prevailing winds and currents. In 2008/9, Dee took part in the gruelling Vendée Globe solo round the world race, crossing the finish line in 6th place on 16 February 2009 after 99 days at sea. By completing both circumnavigations, Dee has secured a double world record by becoming the first woman to sail solo, non-stop, around the world in both directions.
Dee added to her achievements in June 2009 by claiming the overall crewed monohull Round Britain and Ireland Speed Record, which now stands at 6 days 11 hours 30 minutes and 53 seconds.
Dee constantly pushes her boundaries and outside of sailing enjoys participating in adventure races, cycling and ran the London Marathon in 2007 in aid of Sail 4 Cancer. As one of Britain's most inspirational women, Dee is also an experienced and popular international speaker.
