This year celebrates the 28th anniversary of the London Marathon and Flora’s 13th year of sponsorship. There are 46,500 entrants with as many as half a million spectators cheering them along the route. It is the biggest single day charity event of the year raising an estimated £46.5m in 2007 for a wide range of charities. The Flora London Marathon's 26.2 mile route starts on Blackheath and passes the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, Tower of London, London Eye and the Houses of Parliament; finishing in The Mall.

Flora has sponsored the London Marathon since 1996, and in 2008 Flora has reinforced its commitment to the heart health of the whole marathon field through the extension of its Flora 1st Timers initiative. This year Flora has created a website to support both first time runners and experienced runners alike through their marathon journey, supplying runners with both exercise and nutrition advice to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle and a healthy heart, not just for the marathon but for life.
