Chris Stanmore-Major czwarty i ostatni na mecie regat VELUX 5 OCEANS.
Ostatni z czterech zawodników biorących udział w okołoziemskich regatach VELUX 5
OCEANS, Brytyjczyk Chris Stanmore-Major, dopłynął dziś do mety drugiego etapu.
Tym samym flota jachtów Eco 60 stacjonująca w porcie w Wellington jest już w
komplecie.
Jacht Spartan minął metę 24 stycznia o godzinie 07.25 rano czasu lokalnego (19.25
polskiego czasu), po 39 dniach, 9 godzinach i 25 minutach spędzonych na morzu. Chris
Stanmore-Major po raz drugi w tym wyścigu zajął czwartą lokatę w porcie etapowym.
Po zacumowaniu jachtu i zejściu na ląd 33-letni żeglarz z Cowes wzniósł toast kieliszkiem
szampana za Belga, Christophe’a Bullensa, który musiał wycofać się z wyścigu.

British skipper arrives in Wellington to complete VELUX 5 OCEANS fleet
BRITISH yachtsman Chris Stanmore-Major today sailed across the finish line of the second sprint of the VELUX 5 OCEANS ending an epic 39-day voyage from Cape Town, South Africa, to Wellington in New Zealand. With the sun still rising, the 33-year-old solo sailor from Cowes, Isle of Wight, crossed the finish line at 7.25am and sailed into Wellington Harbour on his Eco 60

Le skipper britannique est arrivé en 4e position à Wellington
Le navigateur britannique Chris Stanmore-Major est arrivé lundi matin à Wellington. À la
barre de son monocoque Eco 60 Spartan, le navigateur de 33 ans originaire de Cowes en
Grande-Bretagne a rejoint la Nouvelle-Zélande après 39 jours 9 heures et 25 minutes de
mer depuis son départ de Cape Town. Il est ainsi le 4e et dernier concurrent de la VELUX
5 OCEANS à boucler la deuxième étape du tour du monde à la voile...

BRAD VAN LIEW SCOOPS BONUS POINTS IN VELUX 5 OCEANS SPRINT
TWO TIMED RUN
Eco 60 fleet notch up impressive speeds through speed gates
AMERICAN ocean racer Brad Van Liew has picked up three bonus points for being the quickest
of the VELUX 5 OCEANS skippers to pass between the ocean sprint two speed gates. Brad,
who was awarded 12 points for winning the latest leg from Cape Town to Wellington, picks up
three bonus points for sailing between longitudes 75E to 50E in three days, ten hours and 26
minutes.
The VELUX 5 OCEANS is scored using a points system rather than elapsed time.

Sternik jachtu Active House kończy wyścig dwa dni po zwycięzcy etapu
Po dotarciu na metę w Wellington, doświadczony samotny żeglarz Derek Hatfield określił drugi
etap regat VELUX 5 OCEANS jako najtrudniejszy w jego życiu. 58-letni Kanadyjczyk
przekroczył linię mety na swoim jachcie klasy Eco 60 Active House o 15.00 czasu lokalnego
(02.00 UTC, czyli 3.00 czasu polskiego), mniej niż 60 godzin po zwycięzcy drugiego etapu i
obecnym liderze regat - Bradzie Van Liew.
W drugim spośród pięciu odcinków regat, które składają się na VELUX 5 OCEANS, Derek
przepłynął przez Ocean Południowy z Kapsztadu w Afryce Południowej ponad 7500 mil
morskich. Zajęło mu to 32 dni i 17 godzin.

DEREK HATFIELD TAKES THIRD PLACE IN VELUX 5 OCEANS SPRINT TWO
Active House skipper finishes two days behind leg winner
VETERAN solo sailor Derek Hatfield today described the second ocean sprint of the VELUX 5
OCEANS as the toughest sailing of his life as he arrived in Wellington to clinch the final podium
position. The 58-year-old Canadian sailed his Eco 60 yacht Active House across the finish line
at 3pm local time (0200 UTC), less than 60 hours behind leg two winner and overall race leader
Brad Van Liew.
In the second of five ocean sprints that make up the VELUX 5 OCEANS, Derek, Canada’s top
solo yachtsman, sailed more than 7,500 nautical miles through the Southern Ocean from Cape
Town in South Africa in 32 days and 17 hours.

Pomimo kłopotów sprzętowych Polak zameldował się, w niedzielę 16 stycznia o godzinie
18.27 czasu polskiego, na mecie drugiego etapu wokółziemskich regat VELUX 5
OCEANS, zajmując tym samym fantastyczną drugą pozycję. Licząca tym razem 7000 mil
morskich trasa do Wellington w Nowej Zelandii była wyjątkowo trudna i długa dla
wszystkich zawodników. Druga lokata Gutkowskiego to kolejny wielki sukces polskiego
żeglarza.
Zbigniew Gutek Gutkowski po raz kolejny zakończył etap na drugim miejscu, co zwiększa jego
punktację w klasyfikacji generalnej i daje świetne wyjście do dalszej rywalizacji w pozostałych
jeszcze trzech etapach regat.

Zbigniew Gutkowski a rejoint la Nouvelle-Zélande moins de 24 heures après
Brad Van Liew
Le navigateur polonais Zbigniew Gutkowski a pris la deuxième place de la deuxième
étape de la VELUX 5 OCEANS. Il a rejoint Wellington en Nouvelle-Zélande depuis Cape
Town en Afrique du Sud après 31 jours et 8h27 de navigation épique en océans Indien et
Pacifique.
Le skipper d'Operon Racing a pris la deuxième place de la deuxième étape près d'une journée
après l'Américain Brad Van Liew.

GUTEK TAKES SECOND IN VELUX 5 OCEANS SPRINT TWO
Polish skipper gives all in gruelling Southern Ocean leg
POLISH solo sailor Zbigniew Gutkowski crossed the VELUX 5 OCEANS sprint two finish line
after exactly a month at sea to claim second place. In an adrenaline-fuelled race the 36-year-old
from Gdansk, known as Gutek, arrived in Wellington, New Zealand, less than 24 hours behind
leg winner Brad Van Liew.
Gutek sailed across the finish line on his 60ft Eco 60 yacht Operon Racing at 6.27am local time
(5.27pm UTC) as the sun rose over the city before berthing in Queens Wharf at around 8.30pm
to the cheers of watching crowds....

BRAD VAN LIEW CLAIMS VICTORY IN VELUX 5 OCEANS SPRINT TWO
American skipper increases lead in The Ultimate Solo Challenge
AMERICAN solo ocean racer Brad Van Liew today made it two wins from two ocean sprints as
he sailed into Wellington, New Zealand, to claim victory in second sprint of the VELUX 5
OCEANS solo round the world yacht race. For the 42-year-old from Charleston, South Carolina,
it brought to an end a gruelling month-long slog through the Southern Ocean from Cape Town
in South Africa alone on his Eco 60 yacht Le Pingouin.
During the leg, the second of five that make up the VELUX 5 OCEANS, Brad sailed 7,682
nautical miles in 30 days, nine hours and 49 minutes at an average speed of 10.53 knots.....
